Update
- The Leaf Mobile 1st Traffic Ticket On
Wednesday, April 10, 2002, I appeared at court for the Leafmobile's 1st traffic
ticket (improper use of a flashing blue light). I arrived promptly at 9:00 am
and spoke to counsel regarding my plea of guilty with an explanation. My request
to have the ticket fully withdrawn was firmly denied and she explained that she
could only lower the $110.00 fine.
Ten
minutes later my name was called and I approached the bench to defend myself.
I continued to plead guilty with an explanation and the judge questioned, "What
is this flashing blue light?" I
replied, "I have a picture your honor. May I approach the bench?" Upon
reviewing the picture of the Leafmobile with its trademark flashing blue light,
he inquired, "Leafs fan?" "Yes
your honor." I answered with pride.
No sooner did I answer and the judge firmly stated, "Dismissed" I
looked at council confused as she explained that the charge was dropped and that
I could go. The charging officer, Ian Kosher, sat laughing in the courtroom. . I
stood in front of the courtroom relieved that the charge was dismissed. However
a very large part of me was still enraged because this could have all been resolved
that May 3rd, 2001 night if officer Ian kosher had choose not to be such an @$$hole.
As
a result, taxpayers' money has been wasted in the process including court costs
and overtime for the charging officer. No wonder he sat in the courtroom laughing.
GO LEAFS, GO!
